A Message From the Superintendent |

Happy New Year! FYI - my personal ‘statute of limitations’ for wishing people I haven’t yet seen a “Happy New Year” extends to June 30th (once July hits, it’s half over and pretty much an old year) - far longer than most, I know, but, all the same, it is a positive greeting that can be extended but once a year, so why not take full advantage? . . . if that doesn’t work for you, then I’ll just say, January Greetings! Certainly, I could share a focus of this month’s message on all of the unrealistic resolutions I’d set (I’ve already eaten chocolate in between meals after midnight on a day I didn’t exercise), but who needs to be reminded that those things should be set in the world of attainability - where a good support system is in place to make it become a part of your daily life? Not me. I will, however, share a ‘thought process’ that has been developing since our return to school just a little more than two and a half weeks back. On that Monday morning, the 4th day of the newest decade of the 21st century, I was able to share a morning and afternoon with a great majority of the employees of the Bond County Community Unit 2 school district. It was a scheduled Teachers Institute Day - where, in the past, certified and some non-certified personnel would return to their buildings to meet with their principals, coordinating a road map for the second half of the school year, followed up with a visit to the classroom to change out bulletin boards, update class rosters, make new seating arrangements, and take a deep breath before the next day’s arrival of the freshly re-charged, energized, educationally starved youth of the district. This day, however, was quite a bit different, and I truly don’t mind sharing with you how much I enjoyed it, as well as that developing thought process! |
